Recap of 2012

Well it's been awhile since I've blogged...our lives have been changing a lot.

We're having a baby boy!

Everett James Anderson

Due: March 29th 2013

We've are now in the third trimester and things have been going great. I was sick in the beginning mostly due to waiting too long to eat dinner and then eating too much. Once I learned to stop doing that, things have been going smoothly. I have been so blessed to have such an easy pregnancy, which has allowed me to keep working and stay active. I have been going to the gym a couple times of week, and have been enjoying weight-lifting, water aerobics and yoga. My mom and Dixie have passes at the rec center so I can usually convince one of them to go with me which makes working out a whole lot funner.
We've also been going to the chiropractor the last few months to help get Kyle's neck back to it's normal position and to get my hips back in place. We go a couple of times a week and get a 15 min massage each time so I've not had many aches or pains.
I've been craving Pizza and Breadsticks and love to drink Orange Juice.

We're so excited to meet this little guy but still need the next couple months to get ready.

Some Highlights from 2012:

Graduation
I graduated December 2011 and then was asked to speak at the commencement ceremony in May. Even after working for six months, it just didn't seem real until I was in my graduation gown and realized that I was done. It was such a great opportunity to speak and helped me to remember what a fantastic education I received. I definitely miss both Logan and college but am loving my current job and keep very busy so that helps reduce the pain. Also seeing the recent FREEZING temperatures makes me happy to be in Salt Lake!

Moments before I proceeded to fall onto my face and rip my graduation gown - but at least they got a good picture and didn't take it too late!

We also both received .22s for Graduation so we've been out shooting a few times

Alaska
We had a fun trip up to Alaska to visit Kyle's sister and brother in law. We went in July with both of our families and had a great time. We got to eat reindeer hotdogs and spent a day out fishing. Our fishing was terribly unsuccessful - due to the heavy winter they had and the salmon runs being delayed. It was still a great time and really pretty to see the sunrise.

 Annual Fremont Trip
We had a great time out riding and shooting and spending time with the family!

Don't worry - my parents are ready for next year - baby carseats are perfectly safe in the ranger....

Our Best Friends' Wedding
Kevin and Michelle got married in August and had such a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception - we had such an amazing day celebrating with them and love having them live in Salt Lake!

200,000 Miles
My dear Toyota Camry has reached 200,000 miles and is still going strong! So many great memories - someday we will get a new car but cars are not really our lucky spot so we're going to stick with the camry that has been so good to us.

Canning
We canned all of the standard fruits and vegetables but this year decided to change things up a bit and add some more variety to our food storage. Our first experiment was Beet Jelly - which is made from the juice that you cook the beets in. You then strain out the beets and add lots of sugar and Jello - it actually tastes pretty good and is one of my Grandpa's favorites.

Beet Jelly
4 c. beet juice
1 regular size pkg. Sure Jell
6 c. sugar
1 pkg. black raspberry Jello
Add 1 package sure jell to beet juice. Bring to a full rolling boil. Cool. Add sugar. Cook 5 to 10 minutes. Add 1 package black raspberry Jello. Stir until dissolved; then skim. Pour into jars and seal.

Our second canning venture was Canned Elk meat. My dad shot a beautiful Elk and we canned everything that couldn't be made into a nice roast. Canning it reduces a lot of the gamey taste(although the roast is delicious as well) and it is very tender and moist.

 Kyle's Birthday
We celebrated with his favorite burger from Red Robin in Arizona with his parents, Clint and Amy.
But before we left my mom made him a delicious cake with Cotton Candy flavored icing.

Arizona for Thanksgiving

We braved the hot weather and traveled down with Kyle's parents to visit Clint and Amy for Thanksgiving. The drive wasn't too bad, I was distracted with some craft projects for the baby. This was a pretty relaxing vacation - During the day we all worked and then enjoyed some delicious food by night.

Mesa Arizona Temple Christmas Lights

Christmas

We stayed here in Salt Lake for the holidays and spent time running around to see all of the family and just enjoying time with them.

                   Before:                                                                      After:

This is our beautiful Christmas Tree before and after we chopped it down! I was being a cheapskate and didn't want to buy lights and decorations until they were on sale after Christmas.  So we went with the natural look and the minimal ornaments but not to worry we are now well stocked and ready for next year!

Prepping for Baby:
This dear child has been filling quite a lot of our time after work because there is a lot of things to research about being pregnant and babies in general. I have read about 90% of the pregnancy, birth and babies that are stocked at our local library and we're not even going to count up the number of websites I've been reading as I research all of our options. I am just not the kind of person to do anything without first researching everything out there. This baby has also given me a fantastic excuse to sew - it's much funner to sew things for a baby then two adults. We have been working on a baby quilt and then just sewing the basics like crib sheets and some blankets.

So we've been pretty busy and are looking forward to
